Ben Taylor was homeless while attending college, living out of his backpack, car, or camping. He worked summer jobs fighting fires to pay for school and was used to roughing it. During his first two weeks as a homeless student, he was not sleeping and felt embarrassed. He showered at the school gym, ate in the cafeteria, stored his stuff in gym lockers, and never hung out at his place, instead going to the library to study.
