Honda launched a new 110cc compact scooter called the Activa-i priced at Rs 44,200. This expands Honda's presence in India beyond just mopeds and family scooters to include the personal compact scooter category. The Activa-i is lightweight, easy to handle, and affordable, making it comfortable for both men and women. It uses the same engine as the regular Activa but has a different exterior design and improved braking and fuel efficiency compared to its predecessors. Honda believes the Activa-i will help them strengthen their leadership position in the automatic scooter market in India.

1. Honda Launches new Activa i compact scooter at Rs 44,200
Leader in Scooter Market Honda Motorcycles & Scooter India (HMSI),which has got maximum share of
the automatic scooter segment in India recently launched its first 110cc compact scooter the Activa
i.So far Honda was present in two categories moto scooter and family scooter.In this new personal
compact scooter category,customers are looking for a automatic scooter for daily commuting.The
scooters is lightweight,easy to handle,compact and comfortable for both the genders.The scooter is
most affordable in its line up which is priced at Rs 44,200 (ex-showroom Delhi) which is almost Rs 5000
cheaper than the regular Activa.
The Activa I uses the same air cooled,109 cc engine as in regular Activa and generates 8.15 PS @ 7500
rpm and a torque of 8.74 @ 5,500 rpm.Also features as Combi Brake System (CBS) which reduces
braking distance by 24 per cent compared to conventional brakes ,tubeless tyres,maintenance free
battery and viscous air filter.The scooter claims to deliver a fuel efficiency of 60 kmpl .
The scooter is different in looks,the position of the front turn indicators has moved down from the
headlamp.The side view of the scooter looks similar to Hero Pleasure.However,it has got fresh design in
rear.It has a maintenance free battery and 18 litres of underseat storage,Ground clearance is 165mm
and it weighs 103 kgs.The Activa-i will be available in four colour option Beige Matallic,Alpha Red
Metallic,Purple Metallic and Pearl Sunbeam White.Honda is all set to excite its customer with this new
launch.HMSI President and Chief Executive Officer Keita Muramatsu told reporters that As a leader in
the automatic scooter segment,Hondas entry into the personal compact segment with ACTIVA-is the
next strategic step towards reinforcing its market leadership.The scooter will be available for sale
across India by end of June 2013.
