Horses grow very long legs as they mature to stand up. When young, they cannot stand on their weak legs. Mares typically have one foal at a time and will clean and protect their baby. Horses eat grass and alfalfa, and live in barns with individual stalls but go outside to fields when it is hot to run, play, and graze on grass and hay. When threatened, horses will run away or kick with their strong legs, and a bite from a venomous snake could kill a horse. Potential predators include lions, snakes, tigers, and wolves.
