To apply for a PAN card, one must fill out and submit Form 49A or 49AA (for non-Indian citizens) along with identification documents at the nearest IT PAN Service Centre or TIN Facilitation Centre. The forms can be downloaded from authorized websites. Minors must submit identification documents of their parents or guardians. Processing fees are Rs. 105 for domestic dispatch and Rs. 971 for international dispatch of the PAN card. Existing PAN details can be changed by downloading and submitting the appropriate application form.
2. Applying for PAN
Applying for a PAN is a simple and convenient
procedure. All you need to do is submit
Application Form No. 49A.
Individuals not being a citizen of India must use
the Form No. 49AA while applying for a PAN
Card.
3. Download the form
The PAN application can be downloaded from
the https://www.utiitsl.com/UTIITSL_SITE/
(the authorised agency to manage IT PAN
service Centres in various cities) or from the
website of https://www.tin-
nsdl.com/pan/downloads-pan.php.
4. Documents needed
A recent passport size coloured photograph and
‘photocopy’ of any one of the following
documents as his proof of identity:
School leaving certificate, matriculation certificate,
degree of a recognized educational institution,
depository account, credit card, bank account,
water bill, ration card, property tax assessment
order, passport, voter identity card, drivers license,
a certificate of identity signed by an MP, an MLA, a
Municipal Councilor or a Gazetted Officer.
5. PAN for Minors
In case the PAN applicant is a minor, any of
above documents of the parents or guardian
of such minor shall serve as proof of identity.
6. Submit the form
The filled application form has to be submitted at
your nearest IT PAN Service Centre or TIN
Facilitation Centre along with the requisite fee.
You must mention the designation and code of the
concerned Assessing Officer of the Income Tax
department in Form 49A. Also, the application
shall have to be accompanied by a proof of
identity as well as a proof of residence.
7. Processing fees for issuing PAN
The processing fees for issuing PAN Card are as
follows:
Rs. 105 ( Rs. 93.00 + 12.36% Service tax) if
dispatch of PAN Card is in India.
Rs. 971 (Application fee Rs. 93.00 + Dispatch
Charges Rs. 771.00 + 12.36% Service tax)
if dispatch of PAN Card is outside India.
8. Changes in the existing PAN
An individual can also request for changes/
correction in PAN data or request for reprint of
PAN Card (for an existing PAN) by downloading
the application form from https://www.tin-
nsdl.com/tinfacilities.php . The same also be
obtained from the nearest TIN Facilitation
