Requirements
To qualify for a real estate salesperson

45-hour Real Estate Practice course, and
One 45-hour course from the following list:

– Real Estate Economics
– Legal Aspects of Real Estate

Broker License Education Requirements
To obtain a broker’s license, you must have a minimum of two
years full-time licensed salesperson experience and complete
the following education:
Real Estate Practice; and
Legal Aspects of Real Estate; and
Real Estate Finance; and
Real Estate Appraisal; and
Real Estate Economics or Accounting; and
Three courses from the following list:
– Real Estate Principles
– Business Law
– Property Management
– Escrow
– Real Estate Office Administration
– Mortgage Loan Brokering and Lending
– Advanced Legal Aspects of Real Estate
– Advanced Real Estate Finance
– Advanced Real Estate Appraisal
– Computer Applications in Real Estate
– Common Interest Developments

The Licensing Exam
This exam will determine whether you get a license, so
learn everything you can about it. The California Bureau of
Real Estate (CalBRE) outlines the salesperson examination
content, which covers the following topics:
 Property Ownership and Land Use Controls and Regulations
 Laws of Agency and Fiduciary Duties
 Property Valuation and Financial Analysis
 Financing
 Transfer of Property
 Practice of Real Estate and Disclosures (Includes Specialty
Areas)
 Contracts

The Licensing Exam
The CalBRE publishes the Reference Book - A Real
Estate Guide that broadly covers the financial,
economic, and political aspects of real estate
practice in California. This Reference Book contains
a section on the Real Estate License Examinations,
which includes sample questions.
To pass the salesperson examination and become
eligible for a license, examinees must correctly
answer at least 70 percent of the questions on the
test.
