It recommends respecting others' statuses by not messaging those busy or in meetings, using an appropriate nickname, accurately reflecting your status as available or away, greeting others politely before starting a conversation, sending complete messages to avoid confusion, being careful not to share private or inappropriate information over the company network, and choosing a professional profile photo.

RESPECT THE STATUS
If they are busy think about sending an email, or if
they are in a meeting consider that they may be
sharing their screen. Messages are likely blocked
when Do not disburb and Offline are displayed so if
an issue is urgent consider giving them a call.
YOUR NAME IS SNOOKIE?
Be cautious with using knicknames. The one you
use on your private social networks may not be
appropriate for business.
BE TRUE TO YOUR STATUS
If you stay logged in when you are
away your contacts may get the
impression you’re ignoring them.
DON’T BE RUDE
Include a greeting
before jumping in,
just as you would in
a face-to-face
conversation. It
doesn’t have to be
formal, but it should
be polite.
AVOID BREAKING
Try to send complete
messages because
broken conversations
get confusing. Take
time to complete
your thoughts but if
your response will be
delayed let the
person know.
CAREFUL WITH
PRIVATE INFO
Don’t include content
that is inappropriate or
embarrassing. Keep in
mind that your chats
are travelling over the
company network and
can accidentally be
read by other people.

you want? Your profile
picture doesn’t have to
be formal but it should
be professional.
