Can you see how your leadership skills will be used?Do you know what career/occupation you will be doing? How clear is it? Want to have a look?The following exercise is called a guided imagery exercise. This exercise taps into your subconscious through the use of guide questions. Has anyone done this before? Think of it as a quiet period where you will focus your energy inward to reach a state of relaxation. This is very similar to mediation. If, however, this exercise makes you feel uncomfortable, please remain quiet while writing responses to my guided questions. Ready. Guided ImageryClose your eyes and take a deep breath (turn off lights)Feel your arms, torso, and legs getting heavy; feel your feet as they touch the ground, deep breathYou are about to travel forward in time to look at your future careerAs you travel forward, think about how you would like to use your leadership skills, and how you want to use your education to reach financial independence, deep breathYou will shortly arrive at your destination, when you do, pay attention to the sounds, colors, smells, and people around you. Deep breath.At the count of three, your future will appear. One, two, three.You have arrived at your future career, what kind of setting are you in? Is it indoors or out? What are the sounds, colors, smells, and people around you?What kind of job are you doing? How are you dressed? How do you feel about your work?Take a walk around your surroundings. What do you see? How do you feel? What are you thinking?Reflect back on your days at LaGuardia, how did you get there from here? Think about all the things you did to arrive at your future. Take one more look at what you see; our time here is almost up. Deep breath. Remember what you have seen as you start traveling back. Remember the sounds, colors, smells, and people you saw; how you felt and thought about what you saw.Concentrate on your breathing, your heartbeat, how your feet are placed on the ground. Feel yourself arriving back in time from your feet to your head.At the count of three, you will have arrived.
