Employee orientation
During employee orientation, new hires are introduced and welcomed. The
orientation is meant to educate new employees about the goals and responsibilities
of the position and company, as well as to answer any questions they may have
about HR, benefits and payroll information.
This is a procedure for providing new employees with basic background
information about the firm, its culture and the job. It involves the starting the
employee in the right direction. It is similar to what sociologists call socialization.
Proper orientation can also help the employee get “up speed” much more quickly,
thereby reducing the costs associated with learning the job.
