Jellyfish development begins with fertilization forming planula larvae within the female, which are then released to form polyps that asexually reproduce and release tiny jellyfish called Ephyra, which mature into adult Medusa jellyfish.

Once the planula larvae are released the will form
polyps

The polyp will then grow and reproduce asexually to
form and release tiny individual jellyfish, know as
Ephyra

After being released from the polyp the Ephyra will
independently mature into adult jellyfish, called
Medusa.
