The Harmonious Volunteer Center has partnered with a certified electronics recycler to expand its recycling program throughout Pennsylvania. The Executive Director, Irvin Shannon, announced that with this partnership they will be able to accommodate all 67 counties in the state. They will recruit 200 additional volunteers to provide education on computer and electronics recycling. This initiative aims to create over 400 jobs through volunteer training and internships. Donating electronics provides environmental, economic and social benefits while qualifying for tax deductions. Their goal is to collect 2 million pounds of equipment in 2013 to be reused or recycled responsibly.

3. The Office of the Executive Director has authorized the recruitment
of an additional 200 HVC volunteers who will be providing
consumer education about Computer & Electronics Recycling. 50 of our
HVC Public Relations Representatives have been dispatched to provide
Workshops and Presentations to small & large groups that is comprised
of CBOs/NPOs/Corporations/ Civic Groups/Associations.
The initiative is to create needed employment through volunteer
training and internship placement.
Each Computer & Electronics Donation and Collection Center creates a
minimum of six employment positions and the Harmonious
Volunteer Center intends to open a minimum of one
center per each county in the Commonwealth of
Pennsylvania thus creating 402 jobs.
