Hypospadias is a birth defect where the opening of the urethra is on the underside of the penis instead of at the tip. It is classified based on where the urethral opening is located, with the most severe cases having the opening near the base of the penis. Mild cases may only involve the urethral opening slightly below the tip of the penis.
