This document outlines how an iPad program was implemented at a junior school, including setting up the iPads using an Apple Configurator and trolley, installing the Reflector app to display iPads on an Apple TV, and relevant hashtags and contact details for following the program's progress.
#2: I am the ICT Coordinator at PLC Junior School. A school of 450 girls from Prep to Year 6. My job entails..TEACH ALL GIRS P-6.Computer skills..........Consult with classroom teachers......... based around curriculum content - e.g. YEAR 6 DESERTS WEBSITES
#3: Never ICT for the sake of ICT.......INTEGRATE We are not a BYOD school or a 1:1 iPad school as we have a very strong laptop program . We have about a 1:3 Macbook ratio ...........students come and borrow the MacBooks which are booked by teachers.
#4: 2 Years ago some staff were provided with iPads to trial It was difficult to share around but when individual students had a chance to play they were excited and also seemed to instantly know the device. As time moved on I was given the opportunity to incorporate a set of 10 iPads into the Junior school. This trail began with Prep. We are not a 1:1 school. Strong laptop programme I have heard horror stories about schools trying to manage hundreds of iPads as sets. As we only had a few this was going to be less of an issue. We talked about where the iPads would be best placed and decided upon Prep.
#5: Why Prep? I believe that the accessibility to a digital computing device has never been as great as that of the iPad. Prep - Year 1 students do visit the ICT centre twioce a week but did not borrow MacBooks SO it was seen as a great opportunity to introduce this technology
#6: There is no need to control a mouse (waving a mouse in the air Prep) a keyboard (takes 5 minutes to for the start of their name) or even sit on one of the computer chairs. They seem to just pick it up and use it.
#7: Its instant access to apps and a world of learning. My initial concerns of these devices is that they would be a distraction. A million apps that were fun but didn t really teach anything or offer much learning. WHAT WAS GOING TO BE THE ADVANTAGES OF IPADS OVER NETBOOKS OR MACBOOKS? SIZE, SPEED, EASE OF USE, I visited Ringwood North, Brighton Private schools, many more to see how apps were being used in Education.
#8: I worked with the Prep teachers WHAT ARE YOU COVERING IN THE CURRIC THAT IPADS CAN CONTRIBUTE TO RHYMING WORDS NEW WAY OF EXPERIENCING THIS GREAT BOOK o VIDEO Hairy McLary - PLAY, TOOLS, FOCUS OF LESSON, PUT IPAD DOWN - YOU TOUCH I TAKE
#9: 際際滷 5: technical stuff I was given a giant toaster over (iPad dock) to manage the 10 iPads we had. GREAT FOR CLASS SET MANAGEMENT - SYNCING, ADDING APPS TO MANY DEVICES I BUY ITUNES CARDS - SCHOOL REEMBURSES ME VOLUME LICENCING ACCOUNT - I have learnt to buy apps with volume licencing. Buying multiple apps through this account gives us a small discount. CAREFUL ABOUT BUYING MULTIPLE APPS . We want quality apps that serve a purpose. There are a lot of free ones that are great.
#10: Accounts and also manage multiple devices through the Apple configurator app for Mac. PREPS CANT DELETE APPS, CHANGE LOCATIONS, DELETE MAIL SETTINGS YOU CAN SET 1 APP TO STAY ON THE SCREEN AND NOT QUIT
#11: ANNOUNCEMENT OF 1 CLASS SET FOR PREP, 1 AND 2 1 MACBOOK PER TROLLEY TO CONTROL APPS AND SYNCING (LOCKED AWAY) SECURITY CODES
#12: REFLECTOR - WORKS ON MACBOOK Started using reflector software which worked ok but had some stability issues for a few of us. Wifi was upgraded recently so help with the implementation of iPads Recently using Apple TVs to Airplay the iPads onto the projectors. A stable easy way to share my device and student devices to the big screen.
#13: WHERE TO FIND QUALITY APPS FOR EDUCATION LOTS OF RUBBISH OUT THERE BEST WAY IS TALKING WITH OTHER TEACHERS - LIKE TODAY! Great websites: Appitic teachthought.com, iear.org educational apps review, lots of tips and lesson ideas too
#14: Some Apps have no rating here yet. Look at ratings on the Apple store USA because of the sheer number of reviews available,
