A TFM fellow discovered that students at the public school in Malaysia where they teach are unmotivated to learn English due to poor classroom conditions. The classrooms lack proper equipment like functioning whiteboards, tables and chairs, and even doors. The fellow proposes a project called "Star Project" to create a 21st century English learning space in the school with over 500 books and 3 teachers, as well as funding an educational trip to Pulau Pinang for 40 students and 4 teachers to help motivate students to learn. The project will cost around RM5,000 for items like internet access, books, shelves, whiteboards, and subsidies for the educational trip.

1. I’m a TFM 2015 fellow, currently teaching Form 1 to Form 4 students English at a public
school in Malaysia. Sadly, I discovered the students here seem to be highly
unmotivated to learn in English. One of the biggest reason being there is no
conducive, safe and properly equipped classroom for them to learn and practice
their language skills (as images attached). Broken whiteboards, broken tables &
chairs and missing doors...putting myself in their position, I will be equally unmotivated
to learn anything from the teachers.
