A mechanical system converts input motion and force into a desired output through components that interact using principles like heat transfer, gears, levers, and joints. Major principles of mechanical engineering include mathematics, physics, thermodynamics, materials science, fluid mechanics, statics and dynamics, and power transmission. These principles have applications in vehicles, aircraft, trains, power plants, bicycles, refrigerators, and machine tools.
