Stressed Out
n 2013, I decided to start a breathing meditation course, after I had a burned out. A
stressful period of intense workload, wedding planning and studying for my Post-
Graduation finals was the catalyst.
editation required a lot of practice, demanded patience and perseverance until it
turned into a natural process. It became my favorite hobby.

editation also turned to be a powerful tool to achieve work and life balance. It gave me
the necessary perspective and ability to perform mindfulness: to deliberately put my
focused attention on the present moment. Unconsciously, I started to pay more
attention to my mind, my body, and the environment.

indfulness helped me create more meaningful relationships in my life. As I believe that
love means to give quality of attention, when I apply it in others, Im giving love, energy
and establishing a true connection.

My memory is more accurate, as I have more consciousness of what is happening,
switching off autopilot. More insightful moments arise, for example, when I need to
find a solution, I focus my attention fully on this problem, then switch to something
else, and unconsciously, this allows my ideas to be born and, creative insights appear.

Halting task-switching helped
me to improved my focus. Every
day, I set the goals that I will
move toward and over the day I
frequently ask to myself if I do
this, is it going to accomplish
my daily goal?.

After I have started meditation, I became a
more sensitive leader
My 5 senses became more accurate, improving my feedback skills with my team and
sometimes making me figure out what a person is trying to tell, through his or her body
language. All of these were essential to engage and create empathy with my team and
peers, since understanding others enabled me to lead more effectively.

After I have started meditation, I became
more productive and healthier
I became less stressed and I sleep better, making me feel fully recharged every morning,
thus having more productive days. I had a bad habit of smoking driven by my stress
and anxiety. I quitted smoking and my pulmonary capability increased, therefore, my
jog performance improved, and now I can run faster and longer than I used to do.

After I have started meditation, I became
a fulfilled person
Overall, meditation brought me awareness of the big picture of my life. I started to see
things more clearly as I built room inside me to hear more subtle things. My mind just
slowed down and my intuition started to appear more frequently, for example, I could
extract myself from an unhealthy marriage and recapture my dreams, such as my desire
do an International MBA at IE.
