#4: Why this topic?
Because IT matters :-)
The institutions of government serve a great social purpose to the citizens, by providing stability, social services, and the overarching sense of security that most of us take comfort in. With the rapid advancements in internet and information technology over the past two decades, many of us now take for granted the fact that we can order anything from books to home hardware products in one-click and have it delivered same day. We can now send money globally, trade financial instruments or book an AirBnB from our smartphone in minutes.
#5: And we can do all of this while waiting in a line for 3 hours to renew our health card, or get a permit for painting a fence
#6: As our society's expectations of normal customer service continues to improve, government must also modernize along with the private sector. If we dont meet or exceed the new bar of the digital age, then the citizenry begin to lose faith in their governments ability to deliver. The people lose faith in the institutions that provide them comfort.
Scary.
