India celebrates 65th Republic Day
New Delhi, January 26, 2014
Times of India reports on the eve of first Republic Day

Prime Minister of India, Mr. Manmohan Singh, pays respect to martyred
soldiers , at Amar Jawan Jyoti, India Gate, with the chief commanders of the
Indian armed forces.
Indias guest of honour at the 65th Republic Day, Japanese Prime
Minister Mr Shinzo Abe, being escorted to the parade.
Indias formidable underwater force, Indian
Navy, marches on Rajpath.
And the brave warriors of the sky, Indian Air
Force, takes the street.
Those who guide Indias borders across deserts, the
camel riding Border Security Force marches on.
And the colorful Indian Army makes its connect with
the people.
In Indias annual flexing of muscle, foggy winter morning
is not a distraction as T-90 tanks roll down the Raj Path.
The Indian states get representations too in the parade.
From Kashmir to Tamil Nadu, Assam to Rajasthan, each
sends in their best representation through a tableau.
Father of Sub-Inspector K Prasad Babu of Andhra Pradesh's antiMaoist force, is accepting Ashok Chakra, the highest peacetime
gallantry award, posthumously for his son, from President of India.
Courage knows no age, so said the 25 children who got National
Bravery Award from the President of India. This is their ride of joy
and pride , as millions cheered them on Rajpath.
Veer tum bade chalo, dheer tum bade chalo, matribhumi ke
liye, pitribhumi ke liye - School children step in to spread a
message of courage and patriotism to the nation.
The DareDevils of Border Security Force (BSF) show their
skills on motorbikes , dressed in the tricolor of the Indian
flag, to a thunderous applause from the crowd.
And a grand finale with a fly past by Indian Air
Force, showing off on-air formations with a range
of aircrafts, impressing the awed spectators.
WE, THE PEOPLE OF INDIA, having solemnly resolved to
constitute India into a SOVEREIGN SOCIALIST SECULAR
DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC and to secure to all its citizens:
JUSTICE; LIBERTY; EQUALITY;
and to promote among them all
FRATERNITY.
