Etymological derivation (Vyutpatti), syntactical derivation (Niruktti) and definition
of the word Itihas, necessity of knowledge of history, its significance and utility,
means and method of history, historical person (Vyakti), subject (Vishaya), time
period (Kaal), happening (Ghatana) and their impact on Ayurveda.

Itihasa = Iti + Ha + Aas
Iti - Thus
Ha - Positively
Aas - Existed
Itihasa - Took place or happened
It means the positive details of the past

Puraa-vrttam, kathaa-yuttarupam Ithihaasah prachakshate ||��
History will be the narration of events as they happened, in the form of a story,
which will be an advice to the reader to be followed in life, to gain the
purusaarthas namely dharma [ethical], artha [wealth], kama [desire fulfilment],
moksha [ salivation].

?Ayurveda itihasa reveals the Origin [Utpati], development
[vikasa], study [adhyayana], practice [abhyasa], descent of
Ayurveda [ Ayurveda avatarna] and its spread [vyapti].
?The study of itihasa helps to know the status of Ayurveda
since the creation in chronological order. It helps to know
the secrets of creation and Ayurveda.

In this period the man was wandering hunter, he used to hunt animals with
stones and eat raw flesh. He did not know about shelter and wearing of clothes, he
used to live burrows and cover his body with leather or bark of trees
? Mesolithic Age (Middle Stone Age civilization)
13000 �C 10000 years BC.
In this period man developed up to some extent. He used to hunt animals
with sharp stones, he started to cover the body with leaves and bark of trees, he
learned to produce fire and developed the art of cooking

? Neolithic Age (New Stone Age civilization)
10000 �C 6000 years BC.
In this period man started to prepare the instruments to hunt animals like stone,
wood, ivory then afterwards with the bronze & copper.
He used to wear clothes made up of leather, leaves, bark etc.
He invented fire learned cooking, realized the importance of living with mutual
cooperation, developed the skill of agriculture.
