Tepees The north American Indians lived in tepees and not like us who live in houses which are made out of bricks. The tepees are described as tents. To us tents are only used when we go camping , hunting in the woods or climbing mountains. There is a hole at the top of the tepee so the smoke of the fire can go through. These tepees are made out of 2 things and these things are: .sticks .dead animal skin now known as leather
In little big man a white man was found by the north American Indians. They took him to their tepees and converted him in to one of them. He soon started to hunt like them, eat what they ate and fought in battles. He soon was named ‘little big man’ because of his bravery and heart of gold. He soon came to a battle when he had to give up and return to be a white man. This happened because he was fighting a man and little big man nearly died so he took of the marks on his face to show his white skin. They accepted him back and took hin back to their town.
Native American fighting styles were used by the indigenous people on the North American continent to fight each other; when Europeans arrived, the indigenous people tried, unsuccessfully, to use them to repel the encroachment of the European expansion into the territories. Many Native American tribes viewed warfare as both a physical and spiritual experience. The killing of an enemy warrior was considered, generally, to be the least important part of battle (being more ritual than predatory). Native American ritual fighting with enemy tribes was not always expensive in terms of lives lost nor was it composed of a search for destructive weaponry. fighting style
Some of the Native American fighting styles could be regarded today as forms of guerrilla warfare , in the French and Indian War for example. Over 400 years, the experiences of other Native Americans, such as the Seneca Indians with Europeans resulted in decades of conflicts, but typically were ultimately disastrous for the Native Americans. The Native Americans performed well during earlier conflicts against European advances. The Native American fighting styles also influenced the English settlers. In the 15th century , Europeans introduced the horse to the Americas and the Native Americans became excellent mounted warriors. The introduction of the horse had a most profound impact on Native American cultures in the Great Plains of North America. This new mode of transportation made it possible for some tribes to greatly expand their territories. Later, the United States military had several wars with the of Native American tribes (in particular, the Great Plains and Prairie tribes), learning the concepts of asymmetric warfare of the native peoples (i.e., war parties). fighting style page -2
Hunting When the Indians are hunting they usually creep in the grass as quiet as possible so their pray does not escape. They use bow and arrow, spears and axe. These weapons are hand made. They soon throw the spear or launch the arrow at the buffalo. When the buffalo gets wounded the Indians run towards it and use the axe to cut the skin of the buffalo and use it to make the tepees. They also killl ducks so they can eat them.
Food The Indians usually eat ducks. The men go hunting with spears, bow and arrows and hand made axe. They sneak on the animal and kill it. They then take it home to the tepees and cook it. Then they eat it.
