The Brazilian Senate voted to impeach President Dilma Rousseff over corruption allegations, suspending her from office immediately. Fifty-five of the eighty-one Senators voted in favor of impeachment. Rousseff will now face an impeachment trial and suspension from office for up to 180 days, during which time Vice President Michel Temer will assume the presidency. The past few months have seen Rousseff embroiled in an intense battle over her impeachment.
