The document outlines an innovative lesson plan for teaching students about the barter system through role play. The lesson involves dividing students into roles representing members of a barter economy, such as farmers or service providers. The role players act out scenarios of trying to obtain goods and services without money. Observers watch and evaluate the role play. Afterwards, the teacher leads a discussion about the problems and limitations observed in the barter system scenarios, such as goods not being divisible or wants not coinciding. The goal is for students to understand what led to the development of money as a replacement for direct bartering.
