As far as being legendary goes, very few baseball stadiums in the United
States and around the world can hold a candle to Yankee Stadium. The
structure has been around for decades and has seen its share unforgettable
tales of triumph and heartbreak, and history being made. Here are some
interesting tidbits about the stadium.

The construction cost of Yankee Stadium in 1923 was $2.4 million,
money which Jacob Ruppert gave.
Yankee Stadium was in those days, called The house that Ruth built
since Babe Ruth was the Yankees biggest star.
Yankee Stadium would have become a shelter for evacuees during
World War II if New York had come under attack.
Yankee Stadium is also a place for religious events. Jehovahs
Witnesses often hold conventions here. And when Pope Paul VI first
came to the United States, he offered mass in the stadium for 80,000
Catholics.
In 2009, the new Yankee Stadium was finally opened. Designers and
engineers tried to replicate the original stadium, but also added new
features. The new stadium took three years to build and is reportedly
the most expensive stadium ever constructed.
The new Yankee Stadium is home to two New York teams  the
Yankees and the New York City FC.
