- 1. Interview Questions for Band 1. How long have you been togetheras a band? - The band was officially created around 3 months ago but all of us had previously been in other bands so we adapted to it well. 2. How did you all meet one another? - We all took music as a subject at college and met through that. I met Dec at an audition and got talking about starting a band. 3. Where and who did your musical inspiration come from? - Personally, my influences were bands like Kings of Leon, Foo Fighters, Cage the Elephant as the success they had in their prime was unmatchable. 4. What type of bands do you aspire to be like? - I think every band aspire to be like someone or at least have a goal in mind – I would probably say foo fighters as they have a lot of very well-known hits. 5. Did any of you do any solo work before being a band? - Me, Dec and Ben had some work before forming this band, not so much as solo artists but in other bands. 6. Which famous musicians have you learnt from? - The stage presence element I would say I have taken inspiration from artists like Chuck Berry and Dave Grohl – just due to the way they look very enthusiastic and not only focus on sounding good but also make their best attempts to look good and put on a good show for the audience. This to me is one of the most important parts of performing. 7. Who are your favourite bands overall? - I would say Good Charlotte, Kings of Leon, Foo Fighters, Metallica, Stereogram, The Strokes and White Stripes due to their endless hits and the atmosphere they create when playing live with their presence on stage. 8. Do you perform in public or at events? - As if right now we have not played live for an audience as we are very recently established but me, Dec and Ben have previously with our other bands in things like school shows and stuff like that. - If so, do you get nervous before playing and how do you cope with it? - Personally, I get really nervous before performing so I try to move around as much as I can throughout a performance as it seems to relax me for some reason. Just try to find a way to let out some steam when performing, if not, deep breaths is always a good place to start. 9. How do you want your image to be perceived? - Just as a chilled and genuine band that has nothing to hide. I suppose in any way that isn’t negative would be a good perception as everyone will view us differently depending on what their music taste is. I guess overall we would want to be seen as a hard-working band.
- 2. 10.What advice would you give beginners that are trying to form a band? - Just go for it! Don’t be afraid to ask your friends to join your band and try to find what works and what doesn’t work – just start playing and see how it goes. If you have fun doing it then you’re doing it right so keep at it. 11. When and for how long do you practice? - Every chance we get. Currently we tend to have a full band practice on Mondays and Fridays after college but we are constantly rehearsing our solo parts of performing as home so when we are all together, it goes smoothly as no one slacks. We usually practice for around an hour and a half – 2 hours. 12. Do you have any creative differences? - There have not yet been any creative differences or challenges as such as we are still figuring out what works best for us all. - (if yes) how do you overcome them? - One thing that could be considered a challenge would be the slight genre difference – like some songs Dec may want to cover may differ to songs that Ben wants to cover. We overcome this by compromising and find songs that all of us think could work well with what we have. 13. Have you been in any competitions? - Like I said, as we have very recently established this band, we are still figuring out what works best for us all so we have not played any competitions yet but to be honest that is not the direction that we aim to go at the moment as gigs and shows tend to be a lot more relaxing – we don’t need the pressure and stress of winning a competition at this stage. 14. What are your future goals as a band? - Overall we just want to get our name out there really. Want to gradually play more and more shows, even if they are supporting acts for some bigger bands just to get people to know who we are. - What events do you hope to play? - As a band we obviously hope to play large shows and festivals like Download, Reading & Leeds festival and maybe Glastonbury if possible. If we ever got the opportunity to open for a big band, we would take it without thought. Selling out shows is a dream of ours in huge arena’s like Manchester arena and 02 arena. - What do you aim to achieve in the music industry? - I know Dec would like to be a producer of some sort eventually whereas I more enjoy playing too much to do that so I would possibly like to go into tuition to teach the younger generation or even to help established musicians further offering my knowledge.
