My Family
My Family
I have been engaged to be married for the past
13 years to a wonderful man. We have four
children between us: Lauren 23, is a 2012
graduate of Northern Illinois University; Cody
22, is in the Navy stationed in Virginia Beach,
VA; Wesley 21, is currently doing beta testing
on video games; Brendan 12, is our baby and
Second Class rank Boy Scout and getting
involved with the FFA at my school.
We are currently living in Rib Mountain,
Wisconsin and I commute every day an hour
to work. My daily drive consists of driving
through beautiful farm lands.
Recent Graduate with a BA in
Educational Studies
on October 12, 2013
ExperiencesI have worked with children
for over twenty-five years
as a parent volunteer or
teacher helper.
I have experience with
children with
disabilities and was a
respite and mentor.
I am currently a Special Education
Instructional Assistant at Antigo High School
and work with students that have Emotional
and Behavioral issues. This is my first year as
a paid teacher within the school districts.
Like to be involved
We are involved with
the Boy Scouts and I
am the Service Project
Coordinator, Event
Planner, and Camp
Medical Records
Officer. I have been
involved with scouting
for 15 years on and off.
I am also involved in FFA at the
high school and help the adviser at
events and in the classroom.
Favorite Teacher that made a difference in
me becoming a teacher, Mrs. Driskill. I am
in the third row, third from the right.
Mrs. Driskill
Mrs. Driskill taught be that everyone is the same no
matter if they have a disability or not. As a child
growing up I was the oldest of seven children and
Mrs. Driskill always gave me the attention and care
that I needed as well as encouraged my artistic
skills. I never realized that she made that much of
a difference until I was in high school and struggling
to deal with issues at home. My senior year of high
school I was placed in her classroom as an aide
and brought myself back to my love for teaching.
My Achievements towards being a
teacher and mentor.
Awards
This is the first award
I received from the
school and it is proudly
displayed in my
classroom with all my
students achievements.
Life Goals
I am looking forward to finishing my Master of
Art in Special Education in January 2015 and
starting my journey as a full-time teacher at the
current school district. This has not been an
easy journey but I have dug down deep and
made my first level goals. If you would have
asked me five years ago would I ever be
teaching and have my degree, I might have
said no.
Reasons for Master's Degree
In our state, you will have an easier time
finding employment of you have a Master's
degree and my love for working with students
that have disabilities is an added plus. My
lifetime goals is to use my knowledge of the
fine arts (theater & art) and open a charter
school that works directly with youths that can
not function in a regular school setting. I am
already in place working with these students
and started on grant proposals to get funding
for new programs during the summer.
A quote I have posted on my wall behind
my desk for everyone to see.
