Abstracts and Bios
? Maria Sachpazian, ¡°The big bad monster of Assessment and how to
tame it¡±
Apart from being educators, facilitators and material¡¯s
developers, teachers are also test designers. Unfortunately, testing does
not usually address the issues it is meant to. Furthermore, the evidence
collected is not used to guide the in- class remedial work. This workshop
aims to examine the principles of well -rounded assessment and give
teachers tips on how to design original tests.
? Maria Sachpazian [BA education & RSA dip/tefl (hons)] is the owner and
Managing Director of Input on Education (IoE). She has wide experience
as a teacher, teacher trainer, educational management specialist and
materials¡¯ developer. Maria also works as an EFL teacher at the Straight
Up Markogiannopoulou Schools.
? Georgia Psarra, George Raptopoulos, ¡°Spread Literature into
the World¡±
Would you like to have your learners¡¯ full attention, to have
them improving all four major skills and many sub-skills and enjoy
the ride thoroughly, with minimal preparation and class
participation on your side? And, furthermore, have them and
yourselves communicating all this with learners and colleagues
round the world?
? GRGPS will present how they managed this with the three groups
(A1.1 B2 and C2) that participated in their Spread Literature
into the World project, learners interpreting and evaluating
Greek literature and poetry and then presenting their work ,
their feelings about the process and what they gained on the
way. George and Georgia will also tell you how little you have to
participate, and how much you will gain in the process .
? Georgia has been teaching English and German and running her
private foreign language school for 18 years. She has a BA in
German Language and Literature and an MA in Linguistics. She is
passionate about teaching and literature and wishes to share her
experience with colleagues internationally.
? George has been active in the world of ELT for 33 years , both in
Greece and abroad. With a B.A. in English Language and
Literature, a CELTA and DELTA Module one, he is currently
participating in creative projects with Georgia Psarra and is in his
second term as a board member of TESOL Macedonia-Thrace.
His love for literature , music , teaching and international
communication guide him in both his professional and personal
life.
