The document argues that college is not necessary for everyone to be successful. It notes that some people are better suited for technical or hands-on careers that do not require a college degree, such as an air traffic controller which pays more on average than jobs requiring a bachelor's degree. It acknowledges the importance of further education after high school but suggests options besides college like technical training, the military, which pays for education and provides valuable experience. The document criticizes college as more like uncontrolled partying than academic learning for some students.

Is college necessary

I do not personally see college as necessary to be successful. Some people are more
academically inclined, while others are more inclined to work in a technical field. College just
simply isn't for everybody. There are many jobs that a person can do that don't require a college
degree. A good example of this is an air traffic controller. On average, an air traffic controller
makes 122,340 dollars annually (citytowninfo.com). That's more than the average college grad
with a bachelor's degree, who makes about 51,206 dollars annually (howtoedu.org). On top of
that, the college grad could have countless amounts of debt that they still need to pay. I do
however think that it is important to get some type of further education after high school. It could
be college, if that's the right choice for you, or it could be something working with your hands.
Another option that doesn't require college is the military. This is personally my favorite! While
the military will pay for your college, it also provides some of the best training in the world. The
best part? They pay you while doing it! Why go to college and waste thousands of dollars and
countless hours of your time when you can go to the military and be trained much better, mature
faster, and do something beneficial to your country. College is more just running around like a
bunch of wild animals (for some students) than anything academic.
