The Marmara Groups latest project, opened in late 2004, is its slickest yet, aimed squarely at the high-end tourists. Marmara Pera Hotel Occupying a renovated 1970s building bang in the centre of Pera, its location is good for all- round visits. The post-minimalist interior design has something of the Ian Schrager about it.Most rooms are decent in size and have good modern conveniences. The hotels size at 200 rooms is just small enough to ensure you dont get a sense of being anonymously swamped, which is common to large luxury hotels. Top marks, however, go to the astonishing rooftop pool reserved exclusively for hotel guests, which is almost good enough a reason in itself to book in. Friday, July 30, 2010

Restaurant Located atop the towering Marmara Pera Hotel, Mikla boasts some of the best birds-eye views in the city. The Reservation for 9 windows that span the bar area face the at 18:15 Bosphorus and Asian shore, while the Thursday May 14th restaurant shares this view along with that of the Golden Horn from its additional facade. Mikla This is a classy establishment where people dress to impress and the trend is to start the evening with a pre-dinner drink at the bar, followed by a drawn- out, relaxed three course meal. The cuisine is Mediterranean with a modern Istanbul accent enhanced by Scandinavian simplicity. A varied menu and wine list are more than ample and reflect an internationally influenced standard. 360 Club & Bar The best nightclub in Beyoglu, offering a touch of the glitz that youd get at the Kuru巽esme nightclubs within a considerably cooler setting, is the spanking new 360尊 Set up by Englishman turned local Sashah Anton Khan, 360尊 occupies a 360 Club & Bar spacious, totally modern, purpose-built floor above the lovely 19th-century Misir Building on Istiklal Caddesi. As its name hints, the clubs large terrace and 9 minute walk glass walls allow an all-round panorama of the city. Inside the design is coolly minimalist in foundation, with several more contemporary-cum-retro touches like the large, circular, sculptural light over the restaurant area.
