James Clear:
1 key question
to ask yourself
if you want to
fulfil your
potential
Who is the person
you wish to become?
If you think about it, its very
much like writing the mission
statement for a company.
Only its not for the company,
its for a person.
And its not a mission statement,
its an identity statement.
James Clear speaks about identity
statement, in his bestseller Atomic Habits,
the foundational book on building good
habits and success systems for personal
growth.
Whoever you wish to become,
you need to build your identity
step by step, through activities
and attitudes that support the
achievement of the bigger goal.
Its not going to happen
overnight.
Follow James
3-step identity building
process:
Identity statement:
I wish to become a healthy person.
Question:
What type of person am I?
Answers reinforcing the aspects that
help you support your desired identity:
Im the type of person who drinks 8 glasses of
water a day.
Im the type of person who goes to the gym 3
times/week.
Im the type of person who walks home from
the office.
James unique view on building good
habits is a powerful mindset switch.
Including your goal in your identity
eliminates so many struggles with one
sweep.
One I can think of is frustration:
'I'm not allowed
to eat sweets'
frustration
'I'm not the type
of person who
eats sweets'
serenity,
confidence
Who is the person
you wish to become?
So let's get back to the question:
Grab a cup of
a piece of paper and a pen
and write down your answer.
Congratulations!
You're already one step closer to
fulfilling your potential.
