Jesus sends his disciples away in a boat while he goes to pray alone on a mountain. That night, as the disciples are struggling against strong winds on the sea, Jesus walks toward them on the water. The disciples are frightened until Jesus reassures them that it is him. Peter asks to walk on the water too and does so until he becomes afraid of the wind and starts to sink, at which point Jesus rescues him. Jesus then gets into the boat with the disciples, calms the wind, and they recognize him and worship him as the Son of God.
