A presentation will provide a framework for understanding the social transition from high school to college for those with autism, given by Julie Jones on October 20 from 4-5:30 pm in the Bayou Forest Room, with disability accommodations available by contacting Disability Services.

Women with breast cancer who received positive social support from their partner and social environment reported higher quality of life and relationship satisfaction, while negative support was associated with lower quality of life and relationship satisfaction. Social support from others was also positively correlated with quality of life for women with breast cancer, and interaction between partner and other support predicted quality of life for women in the general population. ABSTRACT: In our study we looked at the care of children with autistic syndrome. This modest contribution
aims primarily to raise awareness of this pathology, and to present the reality of the care of a population with
specific educational needs in an establishment for the mentally handicapped. The present study focuses on the
social implications of autism and the forms of adaptation developed by the social entourage of patients. As part
of the field of the sociology of chronic diseases, it is based on two observations. Firstly, a costly socialization of
the sick and marginalization which contrasts with the integrative policy advocated by the care structures.
Through direct observations and field interviews with institutional actors, it appears that despite the effort made,
such as support and support for families, mobile consultations, communication with professionals and families
and training days by these structures, the most striking observation is the inability of these children to develop
any sociability or to establish communication with those around them.

The society with diverse structural and ideological influences, assumes its role in relation to behavior, attitude, belief and relations. The impact can be seen in every society globally, however the western nations have adjusted their social policies to suit these transformations, whereas nations in developing phase have failed to establish suitable systems. In Kosovo, the allocation of funds for mental health services remains insufficient, even though mental health disorders account for 12.3% of overall illnesses and 30.8% of work incapacities! The objective of this study is to examine the impact of society on the decline and recovery of individuals with schizophrenia. The study employs both qualitative and quantitative methods to provide a descriptive-analytical. A study was conducted in four municipalities of Kosovo, using individuals with schizophrenia from psychiatric institutions as subjects along with their caregivers/family members . The research found that social factors greatly contribute to the worsening of schizophrenia patients' condition. The presence of schizophrenia is evident through a higher likelihood of having a low level of education, high unemployment rates, and engaging in harmful behaviors like tobacco and alcohol use, as well as physical inactivity. Significant correlations have been observed in the subscales of positive and negative symptoms using the Self-Report PNS-Q questionnaires. It is crucial for individuals with schizophrenia to have a carefully designed strategy in place, developed in partnership with professionals from various relevant fields such as social protection, psychiatric medical services, education, and social integration plans. Socioeconomic status (SES) is often measured as a combination of education, income and
occupation. It is commonly conceptualized as the social standing or class of an individual or
group. When viewed through a social class lens, privilege, power and control are emphasized.
Furthermore, an examination of SES as a gradient or continuous variable reveals inequities in
access to and distribution of resources. SES is relevant to all realms of behavioural and social
science, including research, practice, education and advocacy.
SES Affects Our Society
SES affects overall human functioning, including our physical and mental health. Its effects can
be observed across the life span. Variance in socioeconomic status such as disparities in the
distribution of wealth, income and access to resources mitigate social problems that ultimately
affect everyone. All benefit from an increased focus on the foundations of socioeconomic
inequalities and efforts to reduce the deep gaps in socioeconomic status observed today in the
United States and abroad.
While older and retired U.S. residents may enjoy a higher standard of living than their
predecessors, older Americans remain among the most economically vulnerable groups. Of
major concern is whether older Americans will outlive their financial resources. Psychologists
and other social and behavioural science professionals possess the tools necessary to study and
identify strategies to alleviate these disparities at both individual and societal levels.

ABSTRACT: In our study we looked at the care of children with autistic syndrome. This modest contribution
aims primarily to raise awareness of this pathology, and to present the reality of the care of a population with
specific educational needs in an establishment for the mentally handicapped. The present study focuses on the
social implications of autism and the forms of adaptation developed by the social entourage of patients. As part
of the field of the sociology of chronic diseases, it is based on two observations. Firstly, a costly socialization of
the sick and marginalization which contrasts with the integrative policy advocated by the care structures.
Through direct observations and field interviews with institutional actors, it appears that despite the effort made,
such as support and support for families, mobile consultations, communication with professionals and families
and training days by these structures, the most striking observation is the inability of these children to develop
any sociability or to establish communication with those around them.

The society with diverse structural and ideological influences, assumes its role in relation to behavior, attitude, belief and relations. The impact can be seen in every society globally, however the western nations have adjusted their social policies to suit these transformations, whereas nations in developing phase have failed to establish suitable systems. In Kosovo, the allocation of funds for mental health services remains insufficient, even though mental health disorders account for 12.3% of overall illnesses and 30.8% of work incapacities! The objective of this study is to examine the impact of society on the decline and recovery of individuals with schizophrenia. The study employs both qualitative and quantitative methods to provide a descriptive-analytical. A study was conducted in four municipalities of Kosovo, using individuals with schizophrenia from psychiatric institutions as subjects along with their caregivers/family members . The research found that social factors greatly contribute to the worsening of schizophrenia patients' condition. The presence of schizophrenia is evident through a higher likelihood of having a low level of education, high unemployment rates, and engaging in harmful behaviors like tobacco and alcohol use, as well as physical inactivity. Significant correlations have been observed in the subscales of positive and negative symptoms using the Self-Report PNS-Q questionnaires. It is crucial for individuals with schizophrenia to have a carefully designed strategy in place, developed in partnership with professionals from various relevant fields such as social protection, psychiatric medical services, education, and social integration plans.
