Amanda reflects on her upbringing and friend choices in high school. She began smoking marijuana, drinking alcohol, and cigarettes to fit in with her new friends. As an adult, she no longer parties or drinks but still smokes cigarettes. Amanda believes having different friends and a better relationship with her mother would have altered her life choices and likely prevented her from smoking.
2. If I could go back to my upbringing I think that I would definitely have
chosen different friends, once I got into high school I made new friends and those
friends introduced me to marijuana, alcohol, and cigarettes. I drunk and party
though out high school when around my friends because I wanted to fit in. Now
as an adult I do not party or drink, but I do still smoke cigarettes and I wish I
would have never gotten into smoking. I do think that have a different circle of
friends would have altered my course of life and I would probably not be a
smoker now. I would also have tried to have a better relationship with my mother,
we were not always close while I was growing up, but today as I am older we are
close and have a good relationship.
