- The document summarizes survey responses from students in different 6th grade classrooms at Akimel Middle School about how they feel in their classrooms. - Most students feel safe, comfortable participating, and able to concentrate in their classrooms. What is your favorite thing about your classroom, why? My teacher Decorations in classroom (Halloween) Classmates “I’m not in the front of the class, because I’m not being looked at” “Schedule written on the board, I can see what time I go to my next class”
What is your least favorite thing about your classroom, why? Hard homework/class work/tests Other students being loud, or yelling Wall décor, it is distracting “Where I am sitting, I can’t see, if I was sitting closer my work would be better” “Use my brain, and that hurts. It gives me brain aches”
Evelyn’s Period 1

What is your least favorite thing about your classroom, why? Females Not sitting next to friends Males Not sitting next to friends, the desk layout, “boring” content

What is your favorite thing about your classroom, why? “ That we are always so organized” “ The way she gives us time to work. It takes everyone awhile to comprehend” “ The fat fluffy chairs by the laptops” “ How the schedule is up and says if it is an A or B day”
What is your least favorite thing about your classroom, why? “ I just don’t really like the desk arrangements. I’d rather sit next to someone than sit behind someone to the point where I can’t see.” “ The classmates” “ The walls and carpet are dull. They are not a fun color.” “ How much reading and writing we do.”
Similarities in the Classroom Most of our students feel safe in the classroom Most of our students feel comfortable in class discussion Most of our students can easily concentrate in the classroom
Differences in the Classrooms In Alexis and Evelyn’s classroom more students did not like the way the desks are set up than any of the other classes In Shawna’s class none of the students strongly disagreed on any question In Kristen’s classroom there were only 4 females surveyed so she didn’t get a very wide variety from females.
What the survey shows For the most part almost all of the students like their classrooms and feel safe while in their classroom. The students have mixed feelings about how the desks are set up. In every class students seem to like their teachers and their classmates.
