Career planning has changed due to rapid societal changes. Historically, in the 1950s-1960s, teaching was highly regarded in the Philippines and parents wanted their children to get degrees. However, by the 1970s, education began losing prestige. The 1990s saw the rise of new tech-focused fields. Effective career planning involves self-assessment, exploring options, choosing a short- and long-term path, and taking action steps. For teachers, career planning helps with adjustments, maximizes satisfaction and potential, and builds confidence. Teachers can grow professionally through further education, research, and technology training, and personally through modeling virtues and cultural learning.
