The intern participated in weekly staff meetings on Mondays and discussed weekly youth plans with the minister. They led the Wednesday youth group which included lessons on topics like boating, death, gay marriage, and faith. They also taught Sunday school and participated in numerous single youth events throughout June and July such as camping trips, a father-son banquet, and movie nights. The intern connected with individual youth through activities like having friends over, attending graduations, and going out for meals. They maintained the youth bulletin board and served on a youth search committee while also preparing for upcoming events like a mission trip and CIY conference.

Dave and Sarah celebrated New Year's Eve 2010 at Brian and Kavita's new home in Chicago. In January, Sarah broke her ankle requiring surgery with a plate and screws, and received help from friends and family during her recovery. I have learned how to use Photoshop and InDesign more proficiently. Photoshop allows for emphasis through editing photos, which I used to brighten images for my magazine. The snipping tool helps extract elements for documents quickly. InDesign is best for layout and text, while Photoshop focuses on photo editing. Through blogging, I discovered new ways to showcase work on sites like 際際滷Share and Pinterest to make content more interesting. Creating the full product taught me that every design detail, from color to fonts, impacts the magazine and requires thorough consideration. The preliminary task provided similar tools but the final project allowed greater skill through practice and experimentation with each resource.

This month I want to recommend a book that has really impacted me. Its called The Ragamuffin Gospel by Brennan Manning. In it, Manning shares about the unconditional love and grace of God. He reminds us that we are all beggars before God, in need of His mercy and forgiveness each day. This book has helped me appreciate Gods amazing grace in a whole new way.
