Julie talks about Jupiter, the largest planet in our solar system. Jupiter spins very quickly, with one day lasting only 10 hours compared to Earth's 24 hours. Jupiter has raging storms, most notably the Great Red Spot which has been a massive storm for over 400 years. Jupiter is made up of gas and liquid, mainly hydrogen and helium like the sun. With its strong gravity, a person's weight would be over twice as much on Jupiter compared to Earth. Jupiter has rings that are faint and only visible when the planet is near the sun. It also has over 50 moons, with the four largest being able to be seen with binoculars at night.

Jupiter Assignment
2. Hello, my name is Julie and today I am going
to be talking to you about Jupiter!! Jupiter is
one of the largest planets in the solar system,
and is the 3rd planet in line from the sun.
Jupiter spins really fast. Did you know one day
on Jupiter is 10 hours on earth? Jupiters
middle core is stretched out, and the planet
rather than round its short and fat. Jupiter is
the biggest planet in the solar system. Jupiter
is a very stormy planet. There are storms found
throughout the atmosphere, most storms
never seem to end like the storm on Jupiter.
3. Jupiters Great Red Spot(GRS) is a storm that has
been raging in Jupiters southern Hemisphere for
at least 400 years. 100 years ago, the storm
covered over 40,000 km of the surface. It is
currently about one half of that size and seems to
be shrinking. At the present rate that it is shrinking
it could become circular by 2040. Scientists doubt
that this will happen because of the effect of
neighboring jet streams. The red spot is also
called The Eye of Jupiter because of its shape.
5. Jupiter is made up of gas
and liquids, and is mainly
composed of hydrogen
and helium just like a star.
6. On Jupiter, like other planets,
your weight changes. If you
were 70 pounds on earth, on
Jupiter youre 185 pounds. This is
because Jupiter is such a large
planet and has lots of gravity.
7. Did you know Jupiter has rings? They are
really faint and only able to see when
Jupiter passes by the sun. Jupiter has three
rings, they are named Gossamer, Main,
and Halo.
9. Jupiter has 50 official moons and 4
unofficial moons. The four largest and most
well-known moons are Io, Europa,
Ganymede, and Calisto. Fun fact about
these moons if you look through binoculars
at night you can see them. Jupiter has lots
more moons too.
11. Jupiter was named after a Roman King of
Gods. While it had many names
throughout history, the Roman empire had
the greatest influence of modern society.
