INTRODUCTION As a kid he always wanted to be an astronaut, a pilot and so on. He tried for all and failed Then he found out his true passion i.e. WILDLIFE Average student , studied in PESIT, Bangalore (1997-01) Mechanical Engg. Passionate about computers and coding Got a well paid job in Yahoo and Won the superstar Yahoo award in 2003 Quit his job in 2004 Joined eco-tourism resort in Mysore and worked with BBC Started his products ( calendars, portfolios) and workshops
GROWTH PATH Followed his interest for software ; landed in yahoo Creation of an entirely new market First mover advantage Focus on innovation and his passion for growth through expansion into related/adjacent markets
RISKS Following passion in software development while doing Mechanical Engg. Quit the job in yahoo Worked for free in eco-tourism resort Giving photos for free of cost
OPPORTUNITIES Growth in software industry Job in eco-tourism resort Project with BBC
INNOVATION Created a market of wildlife photography Diversification Value added to every photograph i.e. portfolios, calendars etc. Workshops for those people who wanted to learn wildlife photography Giving pictures free of cost for his customers
OBSTACLES Career choice ( Mechanical Engg.) Financial challenges after quitting from yahoo Project with BBC with very less pay ( in the beginning) Indian wildlife challenges (getting a good picture) Low remuneration from magazines Photographs given free of cost (some of them pay, some dont)
IMPACT Creation of a new market of wildlife photography Proved that one can create a career out of wildlife photography in India His idea Being good is more important than making money
