Katie Taylor was born in 1998 in Bray, Co Wicklow, Ireland. She started boxing at age 12 and came from a boxing family, with her father as her coach. Some of her accomplishments include winning gold at the 2005 European Championships in Norway, representing Ireland in soccer internationally, meeting President Obama at the White House, being named World Female Boxer of the Year in 2010, and winning gold at the 2012 London Olympics by defeating her opponents in the semi-final on August 6th and the final on August 8th.
