- 2. TLC Hydroponics, Traverse City, MI Project manager and coordinator of research and development for indoor vertical hydroponic vegetable production. JT Chip Hoagland and Evan Smith organized the start of this project. Worked with prototype machine designed for indoor agriculture. Focus of project on LED lighting options, automation, proper nutrient management, monitoring plant health, and species/varietal trials. (July 2013-November 2014) The North Carolina Arboretum Germplasm Repository, Asheville, NC Worked with director Dr. Joe-Ann McCoy and chemist Dr. James Lyles primarily on plant and endophyte extracts for medicinal potential. Created SOPs and maintained MSDS for department. Maintained experimental plots, labeled and recorded accession numbers, properly stored extracts and vouchers, and assisted chemist with transferring extracts. Prepared HPTLC plates by hand and with Camag Linomat. Analysis of plates under different light regimes to determine botanical identity. Community outreach with Cherokee Tribal Nation, creation of traditional herbal medicines herbarium for education.
