This document provides information about peanut and tree nut allergies in children. It discusses that peanuts are legumes that grow in the ground, while tree nuts like almonds and walnuts grow on trees. It warns that those with allergies must avoid contact with or consumption of peanuts and tree nuts. It advises asking detailed questions about ingredients and potential cross-contamination when offered unfamiliar foods. Symptoms of an allergic reaction are also listed. The document stresses always wearing a medical alert bracelet and carrying epinephrine, and getting help immediately if any symptoms occur. Proper handwashing and eating in nut-free areas are also recommended for staying safe.
