King Bhumibol World Soil Day Award Sponsored by the Kingdom of Thailand, the World Soil Day Award (WSDA) prized the best WSD event held at the previous year communication campaign (i.e. Caring for the planet starts from the ground for WSDA2018) A medal USD 15,000 cheque. To encourage people to organize challenging events and prize the efforts of the organizers Every year on 5 December In Bangkok, Thailand Any WSD organizer is welcomed to compete for the prize
Award 2018 Applications received 41 nominations received by WSD event organizers were reviewed to assess compliance with established criteria. Thirty-nine applications were judged to be in full accordance with the requirements Selection committee Composed of the nine Chairs of the Regional Soil Partnerships; the chair of the Intergovernmental Technical Panel on Soils (ITPS); the chair of the Global Soil Partnership Plenary Assembly (GSP) and a representative from the International Union of Soil Sciences (IUSS) Performed an online assessment of all applications assisted by a ranking tool developed by the Secretariat.
celebrated WSD 2017 in Dhaka and in 22 districts raised visibility on the topic of soil health in the whole country engaged with over 5 000 people among farmers; soil scientists; professionals; engineers and agricultural entrepreneurs; government; community activists; policy-makers; youth; media personnel. 2019 Award will be further disseminated through digital media, including social media network A call for application will be issued shortly after the 7th GSP PA The winner: Practical Action Bangladesh

  • #5: Farmer event at field event Due recognition and promotion was granted through a dedicated factsheet, webpage, and a video. It was sponsored on major media wires and on social media. In 2019 the Award will be further disseminated through digital media, including social media networks, and will constitute an important element of the WSD campaign. A call for application will be issued shortly after the 7th GSP PA and it is hoped that national focal points and partners will further disseminate it.
