3. Award 2018
Applications received
41 nominations received by WSD event organizers were
reviewed to assess compliance with established criteria.
Thirty-nine applications were judged to be in full
accordance with the requirements
Selection committee
Composed of the nine Chairs of the Regional Soil
Partnerships; the chair of the Intergovernmental
Technical Panel on Soils (ITPS); the chair of the Global
Soil Partnership Plenary Assembly (GSP) and a
representative from the International Union of Soil
Sciences (IUSS)
Performed an online assessment of all applications
assisted by a ranking tool developed by the Secretariat.
4. celebrated WSD 2017 in Dhaka and in 22
districts
raised visibility on the topic of soil health in the
whole country
engaged with over 5 000 people among
farmers; soil scientists; professionals; engineers
and agricultural entrepreneurs; government;
community activists; policy-makers; youth;
media personnel.
2019 Award will be further disseminated through digital media, including
social media network
A call for application will be issued shortly after the 7th GSP PA

In 2019 the Award will be further disseminated through digital media, including social media networks, and will constitute an important element of the WSD campaign. A call for application will be issued shortly after the 7th GSP PA and it is hoped that national focal points and partners will further disseminate it.
