Technical communication skills are important for undergraduate education according to an AIAA report. The report identified several areas for improvement including oral communication, visualization, technical writing, understanding fabrication and assembly processes, using CAD, CAM and solid modeling software, estimating complex problem solutions without computers, and sketching/drawing. Good technical communication skills can mean the difference between career success and failure.
