This document discusses linking projects in Microsoft Project to create an integrated master schedule. It describes how to:
- Connect projects as subprojects within a "collector" project
- Insert and link tasks between separate subprojects
- Maintain links if file paths change
- Progress tasks in subprojects and view their impact on the overall schedule
- View aggregate resource information across linked projects
The document provides tips for managing links between projects to track deliverables and dependencies in an integrated schedule.

14. Maintaining Links
Links can be added manually in the Predecessor, Successor,
Unique ID Predecessor or Unique ID Successor fields.
For Example, the following entry in a Successor Cell:
292,C:UsersForrest_KovachDocumentsWK
TransitionTR_WK_Integrated Master ScheduleDELL WK PPM.mpp593
Says link to 292 within the project and link to line 593 in the DELL WK
PPM project.
The use of Unique IDs may be more expedient for creating manual
external links as these numbers are fixed.
Use the same technique in Unique ID fields with the Unique ID line
numbers.

15. Progressing in the Collector
No different than progressing in a single file.
Performance may be slow if the number of tasks exceeds
2000.
Project Status Date Must be Set in Individual Files
Use the Project Field to Identify what file is being

18. Issues with Link Paths
If files are relocated to a new path MS Project attempts to
find the missing links and creates new external links.
The new added links may become redundant with existing
links.

19. Viewing the Aggregate Resource Sheet
The resources from all projects can be viewed the Resource
Sheet.
Time Phased data can be viewed in aggregate in Resource

20. Aggregate Resource Time-phased Data
To use the same resource across multiple subprojects
requires a resource pool
Establish shared resources
in the Collector Project
You can then allocate a resource across multiple sub-
projects to see allocations.
Resource pools are not required in Project Sever
