How to properly use the Knox
             Box



January 2013
Rules for using the Knox Box
 Every members PIN is the last four digits of
  their Social Security number.
 Every PIN is unique to the person who has it
  and there are no duplicates.
 Every member is responsible for not sharing
  or letting other people/members use their
  PIN. If a key is missing, miss used, and/or
  abused the PIN that removed the key will be
  responsible.
Common places with Knox Box access

 Commercial Properties
   Grocery Stores (Tops/Wegmans)
   Stores (Old Navy, Home Depot)
 Medical Facilities
   Bethel Estates
   South Pointe Apartments
   Group Homes
Using the Knox Box
 This is what the Knox
  Box looks like in the
  secure position on any
  of our apparatus.
 Notice the green light is
  on and the key pad is
  glowing red.
 Enter your unique 4
  digit PIN followed by
  the # key.
Using the Knox Box
 After you correctly
  enter your PIN the
  green light will turn red,
  the key pad illumination
  turns off, and the blue
  strobe light will start
  flashing.
Using the Knox Box
 You now have 5 seconds
  to turn the key to your
  left and remove it.
 The keypad illumination
  should now turn back
  on.

 With the key now
  removed you are ready
  to exit the apparatus
  and locate the Knox Box
  on the property.
Using the Knox Box
 The Knox Box will look
  something like this and
  should be located
  somewhere near the
  main entrance of the
  building.

 Lift up the cover to
  reveal the key hole.
Using the Knox Box
 Insert the Key into the
  lock.
Using the Knox Box
 Turn the key to the right
  and pull open the box.
 Keep in mind that most
  of these boxes are not
  used often so it may
  require a good pull to
  open it.
Using the Knox Box
 Once open there may
  be one or multiple sets
  of keys.
 Distribute the keys as
  needed and leave the
  extras in the box.
 DO NOT LEAVE THE
  COMPANYS KNOX BOX
  KEY IN THE BOX OR
  LEAVE THE BOX
  OPEN!!!
Using the Knox Box
 When you are done
  place all the keys back
  in the Knox Box.
 Close the door and turn
  the key to the left.
 Remove the key and
  take it back to the
  apparatus with you.
Using the Knox Box
 Put the key back into
  the Knox Box on the
  apparatus.
 Turn it to the
  right, notice the light
  turns green again.
 You are now done and
  the key is secure.
