Sport would best capture and convey the spirit and reality of the country for future generations. Sport reflects a country's culture, traditions, and history. It also shows a country's political environment, economic status, and social traits. Different sports showcase the unique physical and mental strengths of different nationalities. The way a country's athletes and teams express emotions and interact conveys aspects of that nation's character. Sport is now closely linked with business, art, fashion, and politics. It can influence international relations and be used to promote a country.
2. If there was an opportunity to conserve
one thing for the future generations and the
purpose would be to mirror the spirit and the
reality of my country, this thing would be
Sport.
"Sport, indeed, is a bare canvas to which we present
ourselves...fully, completely, and exquisitely."
Dr.Carole Oglesby
3. There are a few reasons why I chose Sport:
Sporting activities have existed since 2000 BC
Each kind of sport descended from some country
and reflects its culture
The language of physical strength is universal, it
was used even at the time of the human tribes.
Sport is very capacious, nowadays it involves and
is closely linked with art, politics, business and
etc. Thus, it shows different facets of the country.
4. Sport is Relationship & Emotions
Each nationality has its own unique way to
express emotions and interactions between people.
The Japanese are a timid nation, while Italians are
quite sensitive. The way sportsmen celebrate
victories or sorrow describes the traits of a
particular nation. The style of Russian
figure skaters,
expresive and with
great dedication, differs
greatly from Chinese
perfect and robotic motions.
5. Sport is Politics & Patriotism
Politics and Sport can influence each other
greatly. For example, to host the Olympics is a great
prestige and all countries each time argue for this
right. Before Sochi 2014 the government reviews the
visa regime and other regulations. Many important
political figures will come during the competitions
and will interact with each other. Thus, sport
shows the political
background and can
improve or worsen
international
relations.
6. Sport is Strength & Spirit
It is a scientific fact that different
nationalities and ethnic groups have
potentials for various sports. The
runners from Jamaica are invincible
(e.g. Usain Bolt), as well as the Spanish
are in football. The Russian hockey
team shocked Canada in 2011, when
losing by a score 3-0, Russians
snatched victory in the final
minutes. That is a great
example of the
faith and the spirit.
Another reputable example
of the strength is the example
of the Paralympics.
7. Sport is Business & Art
Much time has passed since sport was only a
physical activity. To perform competitively
sportsmen, especially in such sports as figure skating and
gymnastics, have to develop carefully their costumes and
music. Many athletes use their national motifs, such as
flamenco or tango. That is the point when sport merges
with art and fashion. Moreover, to create outfit and
equipment for a famous sportsman is great
advertising. For instance, Bosco
has been the sponsor
of a Russian team for
a few years and during
this time the company
boosted its sales in
Russia many times. The
same works for Armani
and Italy, thus promoting
national business.
8. In conclusion, the sport can tell much about
the country, in particular Russia. One look at any
sport event will provide information about the
appearance of the nation local traits, behavioral
model and fashion trends in the country. The
equipment and machines are indicators of
technological development and economic wealth.
Moreover, the use of traditional costumes and
sound shows one`s attitude to the country and
government, not mentioning that such outfit and
music exhibit national history and culture.
9. Our philosophy precedes from the belief that sport
is an inalienable part of the educational process
and a factor for promoting
peace, friendship, cooperation and understanding
among people.
Juan Antonio Samaranch
