Analysis of the rescue difficulties:
China has a complex terrain and I found most earthquake happened on the second geographical ladder, so I summarized 7 big earthquake since
1950s.
Summarize 1. The most important factor that influence the disaster area¡¯s traffic is the landform.
2. It is easier to conduct rescue in the plain area than in the mountainous area or hilly region.
3. In North China, the winter will cause the rivers freezing which will impact the rescue traffic.

1.Because most provinces are lack of professional rescue vehicle . The civilian vehicles and military
vehicles play an important part in the rescuing when earthquake happens. Those civilian vehicles have
plenty of types and various functions, but such problems of insufficient capacity and rescue equipment
made them can not serve for professional rescuing.
2.Lots of military vehicles also take part in the rescue, although they have off road ability, they always
lack professional rescue equipment.
1. Most rescue vehicles locate in the third quadrant,
which means low rescue performance and low off-
road capacity.
2. Unprofessional rescue vehicle which are easy to be
called up, takes up a great part of rescue vehicle.
However, most of them are lack the basic off- road
capability and have low rescue performance.

due to the limited number of professional rescue vehicle, many victims do not recognize

As earthquake-stricken areas always lack electricity , this new rescue vehicle can unfold the windows and the back door like a wing to absorb the solar energy. The solar panels can translate the solar energy to electricity in the day time.
Two wind driven generator on the top of the vehicle can produce electricity both in the daytime and night. In the evening, the LED light under the windows can provide illumination to the victims.
Function introduction:
When this vehicle doesn't generator electricity, it can serve as a normal ambulance or van to
transport victims or goods. There is enough space in the back of the vehicle, which has one folded
bed and two folded chairs.

Model Making:
Tools and materials
This is my first time to make clay model and finally it collected by my school.
I prepared the 1:1 cad drawing I cut a piece of wood as the
automobile chassis
I used the foamed plastic to make the inner core of the model
I spread the oil clay and use different scraping knife to adjust the model shape . I sprayed oil paint to make the model looks better. I tried at least 5 times to succeed the spraying as it was very difficult to be
completed by myself.
I decided to use oil clay to make the model. Because I want to practice model-making ability, I did not ask
help for the 3D printing factory.

Problem description:
In order to solve this problem, I planed to design a new product to light them in the dark.

According to investigations and interviews, I
defined the target people with following
characteristics :
1. College student who still study or work after
23:30pm but the lights in the school are regulated
to be out after this time.
2. Students who always meet the problem to find
something during the blackout .
3.College student without income( Most Chinese college
students have no income so they would not like to
spend a lot of money on a new light equipment.

activities of students' association so
I always come back dorm very late,
unfortunately, when I come back to
my dorm, It is too dark to find my
toothbrush or cups.

late to complete lots of homework. I
can not go to bed before 23:30,
however, when I am studying, the
dorm always blackout and there were
several times that I knocked over my
cup in the dark room.

read some books or listen classical
music before sleeping. Although we
know the light will be turned off at
23:30pm, it often happens that I
forget where is my kindle or MP3
player and it is difficult to find them

Although I already get use to the

3. Environment Research :
1.most dormitories in Chinese university accommodate at least four students. There is a
bed above the table and the students get to the bed through the ladder.
2. there are two common ways of lighting the dorm, with the table lamp or the
fluorescent.
Problems: No matter the table lamp or fluorescent they all will be turn off after the
school Administrator cut down the power.
Problems: If the dorm suddenly blackout , it is even hard for them to find the ladder.
What¡¯s the worse, most dorm are considerably crowded, so students are easy to be
stumbled in the dark room.
I had interviewed four students in our university to find their troubles when the dorm black out . They came from freshman to senior.
The results showed that students from academic levels had many different troubles. But generally, they all got a same problem that it was difficult for them to find
small things in dark room.

2.It can not be too expensive because the consumers are college students, who do not have
verifiable income.
3.It must be durable and easy to charge, for that college students always forget to charge the
light because they are usually so busy.

because the socket always plugged in to the wall ,
users will never pull out the plug of the socket .
2.Using the existing technology and lower the reduce
production costs, college students will be willing to buy

230mm*55mm*33mm(max) and 210mm*55mm*30mm(min).
4.This new product will be mainly used in the dorm and
can be found easily in the darkroom.

I found four ways to combine the lamp and socket.
And finally chose the last one because it is easy to
use.

It can be separated into two parts: a flash light and a socket, people will not forget to charge the flash light because only
combine these two parts the socket can work normally. It also has a circle of LED light bar on the socket to protect it from being trampled in
the dark room.
I also designed a new plug which could change the
shape between the three hole plug and two hole plug.

Background of design:
With the astonishing economic progress and a continuous increase in the number of motor vehicles, China is facing
severe traffic congestion pressure. In order to alleviate traffic pressure, in recent years China has entered a period of
rapid development of railway construction. Take Beijing for example , Beijing has 20 railway transportation lines.
The growing traffic problems in most big
cities in china.
Many cities solve it with urban light rail
system
I found there was lot of empty space under
the light rail system. Maybe we can use this
empty space to relieve the traffic congestion,
for instance, we can use this space for
parking.
I planned to get design
inspiration from animals that
can hang upside down from a
tree. After research about
different animals, I found
bats was the best source of
inspiration.
Bats can hang upside down from a tree
and I try to use bat¡¯s shape feature in my
design.

Kingdoms, is a Chinese
historical text which
covers the history of
the late Eastern Han
Dynasty (184¨CAD220 )
and the Three
Kingdoms period (220¨C
AD280 CE).
In a battle of ¡° Guan du¡± (AD200 ) the Wei ¡®s army used a new weapons to siege
the Yuan¡¯s capital. This new weapons named ¡±JingLan£¨¾®À¸£©¡±.
Solders can stand on this weapon to siege the city. I had searched lots of information about the
weapon of that time
Finally I found this type of ¡°Jinglan(¾®À¸£©¡± could
provide inspiration to my rack design.

Design description
This was a course work in my junior year. My teacher asked me to design a tourism product for my hometown.
My hometown is Changsha, which is a famous city in Southern China-Hunan Province with a history of more
than 3,000years.I chose one of the famous period of the city-Han Dynasty(BC202-AD9) as the source of the
inspiration. I did lots of research about the history relics and read lot of historical books to conduct this tourism
product design. I designed a serious of note books and two clay sculptures for the tourist. Those people doing
gymnastics in this design were related to traditional Chinese medicine with reminding people of caring about
their health.

Easy to be found in the dark room Product definition: 1.The ideational product will combine with a socket, because the socket always plugged in to the wall , users will never pull out the plug of the socket . 2.Using the existing technology and lower the reduce production costs, college students will be willing to buy it. 3.The size should be small and made within 230mm*55mm*33mm(max) and 210mm*55mm*30mm(min). 4.This new product will be mainly used in the dorm and can be found easily in the darkroom. 5. Product development: I found four ways to combine the lamp and socket. And finally chose the last one because it is easy to use. 19

Product pictures It can be separated into two parts: a flash light and a socket, people will not forget to charge the flash light because only combine these two parts the socket can work normally. It also has a circle of LED light bar on the socket to protect it from being trampled in the dark room.   • 24. Design research Background of design: With the astonishing economic progress and a continuous increase in the number of motor vehicles, China is facing severe traffic congestion pressure. In order to alleviate traffic pressure, in recent years China has entered a period of rapid development of railway construction. Take Beijing for example , Beijing has 20 railway transportation lines. The growing traffic problems in most big cities in china. Many cities solve it with urban light rail system I found there was lot of empty space under the light rail system. Maybe we can use this empty space to relieve the traffic congestion, for instance, we can use this space for parking. I planned to get design inspiration from animals that can hang upside down from a tree. After research about different animals, I found bats was the best source of inspiration. Bats can hang upside down from a tree and I try to use bat¡¯s shape feature in my design. 24

Design process The Romance of Three Kingdoms, is a Chinese historical text which covers the history of the late Eastern Han Dynasty (184¨CAD220 ) and the Three Kingdoms period (220¨C AD280 CE). In a battle of ¡° Guan du¡± (AD200 ) the Wei ¡®s army used a new weapons to siege the Yuan¡¯s capital. This new weapons named ¡±JingLan£¨¾®À¸£©¡±. Solders can stand on this weapon to siege the city. I had searched lots of information about the weapon of that time Finally I found this type of ¡°Jinglan(¾®À¸£©¡± could provide inspiration to my rack design. 1.   • 37. Other works tourism products design Design description This was a course work in my junior year. My teacher asked me to design a tourism product for my hometown. My hometown is Changsha, which is a famous city in Southern China-Hunan Province with a history of more than 3,000years.I chose one of the famous period of the city-Han Dynasty(BC202-AD9) as the source of the inspiration. I did lots of research about the history relics and read lot of historical books to conduct this tourism product design. I designed a serious of note books and two clay sculptures for the tourist.
