The earth has 7 continents and oceans, with land and water. A compass orients using the 4 cardinal directions of north, east, south, and west. Our solar system includes 9 planets, with Earth being the 3rd planet from the sun.
This document provides an overview of a third grade unit on maps and globes. Students will develop map skills by positioning and labeling the seven continents and five oceans to create a world map. They will use the equator and prime meridian to identify the four hemispheres and locate specific countries. Students will also read, construct, and interpret maps, tables, graphs and charts. The document reviews key terms like hemisphere, equator, prime meridian and using a grid system to locate places on a map.
This document provides instructions for creating a foldable map with key geographic terms and locations labeled. Students are asked to label the seven continents and trace/define the Equator in red, trace/define the Prime Meridian in blue, define hemispheres and label the four, and trace/label and define the Tropics of Cancer and Capricorn in yellow.
The document provides an overview of our solar system, including the sun and planets as well as moons. It describes key features of each planet from Mercury to Pluto, such as their size, visibility, and number of moons. The largest and most notable moons, such as Jupiter's Galilean moons and Mars' Phobos and Deimos, receive more detailed descriptions. The document aims to educate the reader about the composition and characteristics of objects that make up our local planetary neighborhood.

Communication involves the sharing of meaning between a sender and receiver of information. It is a process that includes encoding a message by the sender, transmitting the message through a medium, receiving and decoding the message, and ensuring the intended and received meanings are shared. There are various purposes of communication including emotive satisfaction, motivation to organizational objectives, and providing necessary information for decisions. Barriers to effective communication can occur due to differences in frames of reference, selective filtering, use of in-group language, information overload, semantics, status, and time pressures, but these barriers can be overcome through techniques like effective timing, regulated information flow, parallel channels, empathy, feedback, and active listening.

Reptiles have scales covering their skin, breathe through lungs, and most live on land with four legs. While all reptiles are not the same, snakes do not have legs and move by slithering, and turtles are protected by a hard shell. Some reptiles live in water but must surface to breathe. Reptiles reproduce through eggs and do not typically care for their young, as the babies must be independent from birth.
