THIS IS REPRESENTATIVE OF LATINOS
Thank you Bez and The Latino Caucus DGP and Gracias to everyone joining us tonight.
Im super excited about sharing my favorite number with you today!
YES< I said number.
But more on that soon.
Let me tell you a little bit about me.
I have had the pleasure of working with some great brands through my career.
Now, back to that NUMBER
Most people dont send hours and days reading market research studies and analyzing data
So I wanted to give you a look into a day in the life of a digital marketer
THIS is an ACTUAL photo of me in my environment, analyzing trends and market share.
As you can see, sometimes those numbers jump right out at YA
Its quite a dangerous industry.
Seriously though, lets jump into the DATA
Brands LOVE Latinos
To the tune of billions in ad spend
They LOVE us
Want to reach us
Willing to spend A LOT of money
You may be wonrdering, SO WHAT, WHAT DOES THIS MEAN to ME?
Much like my mother does, whenever I start spewing numbers about Latinos and marketing.
While I may be a big ole data geek and love talking about these numbers, my mom and most people DO NOT.
So I have to take a step back and do a better job of connecting the importance of this data to our day-to-day lives.
And Why I think its super important for everyone here to know this and communicate it.
You may be wondering,
Is it because I want you to vote for a specific candidate, no
A specific issue? Not at all
So then it must be that she wants us to vote Democrat?
NOPE
Republican?Tanpoco. No
I am here to address the elephant in the room show you how my favorite number is part of the solution.
You see, every day we are all bombarded by these types of images.
In fact, when I search google for the word latinos
This is what comes up.
THIS is NOT representative of latinos.
Now, this IS an important issue that needs discussion, debate and solutions.
But I am NOT here to discuss THIS particular issue.
I am here to talk about how the media portrays LATINOS in a negative fashion,
Reducing us to only this topic.
So back to that Google search. When I think of the latinos I know and the ones in every corner of this fabulous country.
I think of these stories, which are TRUE representations of who we are and what we contribute.
AND I had to dig to find these. 20-30 bad news articles for each one of these.
So TODAY, I am here to share this number with you.
$3.2 Trillion
If you leave here, not remembering anything more than a photo of an elephant and this number, I will have been successful.
Is what Latinos represent with regards to economic output.
GDP is how a countrys wealth is determined.
That is the GDP (gross domestic product) that we represent, if you counted all latinos in the US.5th largest economy in the WORLD.
Not in top 10, top 5
GDP = private consumption + gross private investment + government investment + government spending + (exports imports).
GDP =
Purch Power =
So why are we so sexy to brands?
Remember that purchasing power of 3.4 T?We are also everywhere all the time.
We overindex on all social media usage
Our youth as a demographic is a contributing factor
Almost half of all Latino are on WhatsApp
Versus
20% (not even 村)
You know how we keep hearing that Nwspapers and Magazines are dying
Not thanks to Latinos
We overindex on those too
Spanish language websites are from all Spanish speaking countries.
So we are keeping the industry alive and well here and all over the world.
SO WHAT. You say
Why is that important?
That 3.2 T isnt just about what we buy
Its about our contributions to this country
And the economy
We all know the Drain on the Economy rhetoric
So Lets break it down
So lets talk about that.
How do we measure up
With Jobs, Taxes, Business
What does that $3.2 T actually look like?
We know that latinos love to work.
We are hardworking.
We work HARD and
As brands already know,
We BUY hard
Like Lin Manuel says,
We get the job done.
How about as Entrepreneurs?
That 3.2T has to come rom somewhere.
What we earn
what we buy
what we create
who we employ
Latinos contributed $102 / $308
NOW, I am going to make a statement:
America is depending on Latinos for SS and Medicare,
Im not making that up
The data absolutely backs that claim up.
Those of us who have already paid our share of SS rely on the younger generation of workers to be able to pull our money out when we hit retirement age.
Because the GOV spent our money as soon as it comes in.
Now lets look at the current population.
Go Over colors
Hispanics will be paying a large share of SS
America is depending on Latinos for SS and Medicare,
Im not making that up
The data absolutely backs that claim up.
Even though, home ownership has been difficult with high interest rates.
Latinos found a way, as we always do.
We solved the problem of higher interest rates with FAMILY.
So, when you see these images everywhere, or you encounter folks who may say negative things
I want you to remember the $3.2 Trillion
BECAUSE
It is simply a NUMBER, that shows
And THAT is a TRUE, DATA BACKED representation of Latinos.
