You are preparing to write a research proposal that will lead to a short research report. The topics you can use for this report should come from the textbook that deal with diversity in the workplace and the subsequent issues. This is a proposal that will also feed into the short research report and presentation coming up. Look at this as educating your "office" on some important topic related to the workplace, workers, clients, etc. Your report will be educational while making recommendations for improvement and/or change.
Here are grading criteria for the research proposal.
1. Type this as a memo
2. Include headings in the memo:
Overview (topic, definition, and background information),
Issues (business related problems related to topic),
Research (types of sources to support research),
Audience (who needs to know this), and
Call to Action (conclusion and request to move forward).
3. Be precise in your writing and get to the point. Provide necessary details.
4. Check your spelling and grammar.
5. Proposal should not exceed one page.
6. Topic should be researchable and lead into the short research report where you will be making recommendations for improvement.

Short research reports prepare students to address issues/problems faced in the workplace, at school, in their community or in organizations and develop creative solutions while providing information to colleagues and clients.
Short reports are exactly that - short! Often, short reports are usually prepared in the memo format. They are brief and tailored to what the audience really wants to know. Resist the urge to make them too long and too involved. Get to the point and present the information that your audience wants clearly and concisely.
There are many different types of short reports, including:
· Informative reportsÌý- summarizes information needed for improvements
· Feasibility reportsÌý- evaluates several alternatives and recommends one of them
· Justifications reportsÌý- recommends or justifies a purchase, investment, hiring decision, or change in policy

Individual Assignment: Business Decision Making Project Part 1Purpose of Assignment
The purpose of this assignment is to provide students the opportunity to demonstrate mastery of their ability to apply statistical concepts to business situations to inform data-driven decision-making. The project is a 3-week project, with part 1 in Week 3, part 2 in Week 4, and part 3 in Week 5. In Week 3, students identify the organization, problem, research variable, methods for collecting data, and show mastery of validity and reliability as applied to data-collection methods.

Chi-Square Tests: 1. Chi-Square Goodness-of-Fit Test
Used to determine if observed frequencies differ significantly from expected frequencies.
The test statistic (χ2) is always non-negative because it is based on squared differences.
A large χ2 value indicates a significant deviation from the null hypothesis, so the rejection region lies in the right tail.
2. Chi-Square Test for Independence
Used to determine if two categorical variables are independent.
Again, the χ2 statistic is always non-negative, and a large value suggests dependence between variables.
The sign Test: The Sign Test is a non-parametric statistical test used to evaluate the hypothesis about the median of a population or to compare paired data, particularly when the assumptions of parametric tests (like normal distribution) are not met. It is based solely on the signs of the differences between paired observations, making it distribution-free.
The Mann-whitney U Test: The sign test for comparing two population distributions ignores the actual magnitude of the paired observations and thereby discards information that would be useful in detecting a departure from the null hypothesis.
Kruskal Wallis H Test: The Kruskal-Wallis H Test is a non-parametric statistical test used to determine whether there are statistically significant differences between the medians of three or more independent groups. It extends the Mann-Whitney U test to more than two groups.
Run Test for randomness: The various tests discussed above are based on the assumption that we are dealing with random samples, i.e., samples chosen without bias. However, there are many situations in which this assumption is not justifiable. This is particularly true when we have little or no control over the selection of the data.
Wilcoxon mathced paired-sign-rank: When you can determine both direction and magnitude of difference between carefully matched pairs, use the Wilcoxon matched-pairs test. This test has excellent efficiency and can be more powerful than the t-test in cases where the latter is not particularly appropriate.
