Editor's Notes

  • #2: We realise this is not your first induction, and may not be the last, so we dont expect you to remember everything we tell you today. Please do remember that you can ask any member of the learning centre if you forget how to hand in an assignment, or how to borrow a book.
  • #3: When you have enrolled, and have your student card, we will show you how to logon.
  • #5: You can book one in a quiet area, if that is where you prefer to work. At busy times you can always book to be sure of getting a pc.
  • #6: Colour printing is more expensive than B/W. It will cost 1 credit to print 1 A4 page of B/W, but 4 credits to print 1 A4 page of colour even if you only send a black and white page to a colour printer! Choose which printer you send your work to carefully! You can buy more credits if you need to 40 credits for a 贈1.
  • #7: If the printer runs out of paper or toner, or there is a paper jam just ask a member of staff for help!
  • #8: All other computers are for individual use only. If a student is alone on a group computer, come and talk to us.
  • #9: What if there are no free computers?
  • #10: Students who are on facebook etc, or reading emails, will be asked to leave so others can work.
  • #11: Please ask an LC Advisor to look up a book that will help you with your topic, for exampleFoundations for a garden brick wall. Hutch sizes for a rabbit. Or look them up yourself using the search box on Moodle who is familiar with their school library catalogue?
  • #12: Some books we dont loan they are reference only. Others we loan for 1 week, but most we loan for 3 weeks! Please remember to bring your card with you to college every day you will need it to book computers and borrow books, and it is part of the student contract that you sign that you carry it with you.
  • #13: The contact details can be found on the date stamp label on the front of the book. Fines for 3 week loans are 10p per day for 2 weeks then they double to 20p per day. Fines for 1 week loans are very expensive 75p for the first day, and add 25p for each extra day after that. Lost items cost the replacement value of the book plus 贈5 fee.
  • #14: (Hannah Montana) I left my pen at home, can I buy one here?
  • #15: Also stamps, card for making posters.
  • #17: You can bring in water in a bottle with a sports topRemember your student card at all times when you are on college premises. By enrolling as a student here, you have already agreed to the LCs terms and conditions, and you will be asked to leave if you eat, drink or are disruptive.
  • #18: We hope that has given you an idea of what we offer in the LC please remember we are here to help, so do please ask us.
