Lee de Mets is an organist and musician living in Chalfont, PA. He began studying piano at age 6 and organ at age 14, and was appointed organist at St. John the Baptist Episcopal Church in Germantown at age 16. He studied organ under several teachers, including Dr. William T. Timmings, and passed his advanced AGO examination to become a Fellow at age 24. He has a degree in music education from Temple University and has held positions at several Lutheran churches in Pennsylvania and South Carolina, as well as directing music ministry at St. Jude RC Church in Chalfont for 13 years.

He began the study of piano at the age of 6, and he started organ lessons when he was 14. At 16 he was appointed Organist for St. John the Baptist Episcopal Church in Germantown, Philadelphia. He was a junior at Springfield Township High School (Montgomery County) when he started to take organ lessons with Dr. William T. Timmings, FAGO. Dr. Timmings built a 3 manual 35 stop organ in his home in North Hills, PA. Tim had taught more AGO Academic members than any other private organ teacher in the Philadelphia Chapter at that time. Lee has always given full credit to Dr. Timmings for his success in attaining the Fellowship certification in the American Guild of Organists. Lee passed the advanced examination 50 years ago in 1965 at the age of 24. His other organ teachers were Davis G. Phelps and Harry Wilkinson, FAGO. He has served as coordinator for examinations for the Philadelphia AGO Exam Center for the last 10 years, and he is a member of the National Board of Examiners for the Guild. Lee graduated from Temple University with aa degree in Music Education concentrating in choral conducting with Robert Page. He has held positions at several Lutheran churches in the Philadelphia area an in Charleston, South Carolina including Trinity Lutheran, Lansdale, PA, St. Matthews Lutheran in Charleston, SC and Christ Lutheran in Allentown, PA. His most recent engagement was as Director of Music Ministry and Organist at St. Jude RC Church in Chalfont, PA for 13 years. He also taught vocal music and theater at several public and private schools during his long career of over 60 years.
